The accident happened when a pickup truck crashed into a group of kids walking along South Avenue in Fresno County.  The truck driver ran away from the scene leaving the truck behind.  This accident left Sage dead and another 13-year old boy with non life-threatening injuries.

The deceased, Nathan Douglas White, was on his way to Lake Havasu City along with his grandmother when a 20-year old man crossed the yellow lines of the highway and crashed into their rental car. The victim, Emily Rose Shane, was on her way back home after attending school at Malibu High when she was hit by a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer.
